5 Festive Holiday Makeup Looks
Who doesn’t love the holiday times? Presents, cozy sweaters, holiday movies and music, and of course the makeup. The holiday season is a time once a year(not including birthdays & Halloween)where you get to really get dolled up and try different looks for the sake of mixing things up. The holidays are a time when you spend time with family and reflect on the year you just had, over delicious food, all while wearing a well-put together outfit. With the stress of the pandemic, financial anxiety, and stress of this election; it's safe to say we all need a distraction.
No matter if you’re staying home or traveling this holiday, you will crave makeup styles that are fun and bold. In this article, I will present the prettiest holiday makeup looks so you have one less thing to stress over. Classic hues like green and red, shimmery lips, and glitter.
This earthy tone is often utilized but hardly ever as the main focal point. Whether you’re looking for a glammed-out look or something more low-key, a green hue is perfect for your lids. The color green has this way of giving off an electric vibe but at the same time still be a bit subtle. To try this out, brush the shadow on both top and bottom of lids to get a very striking look.
Glitter is by far the easiest way to bump up the festive vibes without having to watch a complex makeup tutorial. You can either opt for an all-glam-full lid look or go for something less flashy by adding shimmer just at the corner of the eyes with a flat eye brush.
A monochromatic makeup look is perfect for those women who want their look a little more natural, but at the same time still has that glammed up feeling. Not only is this look the perfect balance of “natural” and ritzy, but it’s easy to duplicate. Start by choosing a eyeshadow, in a bronze, peach, or even mauve. And use that same shade for cheeks, lids, and lips. Pro tip: choose a cream blush for easier application onto lips and lids.
Ah, the cat-eye. A gal’s go-to makeup look. The winged cat-eye look is a tried and true makeup look that of course I had to add to this list. I love winged eyeliner because depending how you’re putting it on and how thick, you can get a completely different look. Winged eyeliner goes with just about every style of dress and compliments a vast amount of hairstyles. To nail this look, go for a bold red lip to really show off this winged style. Red lips & winged liner is a classic duo that is practically effortless, granted you keep your lines straight.
Like previously stated, the holidays are for going all out and looking your absolute best. And what makeup style screams “who is she?” the smoky eye. I love a good smoky eye, and I’m sure you do too. It’s sexy, classic, and just too darn easy that anyone can work it out. To achieve this look: Prep lids with primer or concealer so your shadow will stay put. Then, cover your lids with your middle shade, this will be the foundation for the entire look, pick a color that compliments your darker shade-- For a subtle look, choose neutral tones. Line the upper lid with a darker pencil, close to lashes and smudge. Put the darker eyeshadow over your liner and in the creases & corners of eyes. Add shimmer onto the inner corners of your eye for contrast, gold or silver can suit more neutral smoky eyes, while light colors like pink, orange, or blue can suit more colorful looks.
