With the arrival of cold weather, many are concerned with keeping their hair looking good and keeping its shape under environmental stresses, for as long as possible. If I can speak frankly about myself, I don't do my hair everyday. Being someone with curly hair, my biggest problem is keeping my hair moisturized and detangled. My day-to-day life is me working from home, up-keeping my apartment, and taking care of my husband. Needless to say, I don't need my hair to be done, most days my hair is pulled back in a bun.
If my hair is in a protective hairstyle(bun, twist)and I need to leave my place I always choose to wear a hat. Because it's a easy and stylish way to protect your hair.
Just like in the summer, we wear hats to protect our selves and our hair from the harsh rays. Why not do it for the winter?
This post is more about my love for hats then hairstyles, I feel like hats are an underrated accessory and it's time they have a little more spotlight.
1) Wool hats
Wool hats are a must in winter, as they keep our heads warm from cold air, wind, and snow. Well, with what hairstyles can we wear them? They work with any type of hair, although it looks prettier when the strands appear on the face. For example, if you have bangs, don't hide it but comb it to the side. For those with short or medium length hair, a spray with some hairspray or a slick of gel would help hair lay. And those with long hair, you can try soft waves at the ends or a side ponytail.
With a stylishly classic beret you are guaranteed to look good. Berets go with any hair type and is widely associated with Parisian fashion. You're going to love wearing berets because how versatile they are. You can do ponytails, braids, or just naturally down.
3) Fedora Hats
Men wore them for centuries, but for a relatively short time, they have been all the rage in the world of women's fashion as a fashionable accessory.
Wear this hat with loose waves, full curls, or a sleek pony for a luxe vacation vibe. Don't forget to frame your face with bangs or loose strands for a more "undone" but polished look.
Turbans are perfect for those days you want your hair away and out of your face. I suffer from hand-in-hair syndrome, which is a disorder that effects all hair types and causes you to keep touching your hair(twisting it, over brushing, etc). Has been linked to anxiety and mindless activities like TV watching.
Naturally, I try to keep my hair tucked away as much as possible. I recommend you trying a turban or even a scarf or bandana. We forget how much stress our hair actually goes though(styling, hormonal changes, environment)so every now and again it best to tuck our tresses away.
5) Riding style hats
Picture this, you're on vacation riding horses on the beach, sun is beaming on your newly-tanned skin, and hair is blowing in the wind, your wearing a big-brimmed riding hat. Big brimmed hats are not just a vacation most but a practical choice when riding in the hot sun, its big enough to cover your neck and face. The bigger the brim the better.
6) Aviator hats
These nice and warm hats are quite opulent, and surprisingly chic. This aviator styled hat looks good with hair pulled back and away, braids, or down.
